Chicago Woman Architects...Geoffrey Baer...Richardson, Sullivan and Wright...plus Antiquarian Books

Susan J. van der Muelen, SAH Chicago board member, will present her research on two notable early Chicago women architects, Sophia Hayden Bennett  and Marion Mahony Griffin at the Harold Washington Library, 6:00 p.m., March 22, 2016 in the Chicago Authors Room, 7th floor.
Bennett (1868-1953) was the first woman graduate in architecture at MIT. She is perhaps best known for designing the Woman’s Building at the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair. Mahony Griffin (1871-1961 ) was one of the original members of the Prairie School. She also designed in Australia and India.

 The Midwest Chapter of the Antiquarian Booksellers Association of America offers a free event on April 23, 2016, 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m, in celebration of International Rare Book and Copyright Day.
It will be held at The Glessner House in the coach house located at 1800 S. Prairie Avenue. Tours of the Museum will be as regularly scheduled but will also offer a more detailed survey of the Glessner library. It's concerning books, you'll notice.
